The Cotivas Island - the perfect beach spot of the Caramoan

Part 3 of the Caramoan Series

The Cotivas island is a small island in the middle of two larger islands at the northernmost part of the Caramoan peninsula. Notable for its golden sand beach tip and coconut trees that proliferate at the middle of the island. It is a usual beach stop for the island hopping itinerary due to its calm waves being protected by 2 larger islands on both of its sides and the huts that provide shelter.

We have arrived Cotivas Island after trekking from the larger and nearby Guinahuan Island. As we have brought the fresh fish we purchased at the residential fishing village of Guinahuan, we have allowed our boatmen to grill the fish we bought while we waited at one of the huts constructed by the beach of Cotivas.

We have also purchased fresh coconut from the island costing us only P20 per coconut and enjoyed the sweet tasting coconut juice.

The waves at Cotivas is not that strong and so we enjoyed bumming on the beach before we took our lunch.

The rental of the hut cost P100 and is cheap compared to those huts in Calumbuyan of Coron that costs P150 per person.

Our visit to the Cotivas Island is part of our mapping expedition of the Caramoan last December 26-30, 2013 in our advocacy to assure that a Filipino must not be a stranger to his own motherland.
