The 7100 Islands of the Philippines

As Filipinos, we know very well from our elementary school days that the Philippine archipelago has 7,107 islands during low tide and 7,100 islands during high tide. But the list and the basis of the number has not been included in any textbooks to date. Not until a private library has shared the 1939 Census Atlas of the Philippines which provided a list of all the islands in the country thus giving us 7,100 reasons to enjoy the Philippines!

Mount Pulag is known for the magnificent view of sea of clouds when at its summit. Being the tallest mountain at the island of Luzon in the Philippines, no other mountains can hinder its magnificent view. However, not all are lucky to catch the sea of clouds. So when do we usually get this sea of clouds so that we get to have a glimpse of the wondrous view while on top of these towering mountains?

Heroes Before The Maps - a 200th Article Special Tribute to our Local Guides

Two years ago, we have reached our 100th post, celebrating it with some of the people behind the maps we use. As we reach another hundred, on our 200th post, we celebrate it with some of our tour guides who had been with us through the dangers, excitement and adventure of placing "uncharted" roads and trails on the map. These are our local guides, the boatmen, hike guides who knew the roads; whether safe and perilous, yet decided to remain with us to ensure that a Filipino would not be a stranger to his own motherland.
