What's in Manila's Name?

As we all know, Metro Manila is the capital of the Philippines to which is made up of 16 cities and 1 town and is divided in 4 major districts. It is the most populous and urbanized area in the Philippines. The total area of which is about 640 square kilometers. It is where the central seat of the government is located which includes the executive, legislative and judicial branches.
It is bounded by Bulacan at the north, Laguna at its southern tip, Cavite at its southwest, Rizal at its east, Laguna Bay at its southeast, and Manila Bay at its west.

But do we ever know where its name come from?

Coming from a mapping expedition and a feeding outreach for the children of Jomalig Island, we headed back to Real, Quezon via a passenger boat from Patnanungan Island. Amidst Lamon Bay's turquoise waters is a heart-breaking reality. To our surprise, the boat is not only overloaded with people but are loaded with large plastic bags filled with the treasures of Lamon Bay. The bags are filled with various species of tropical fishes meant to be sold to pet stores, all bound to Real, Quezon. The question is, is it legal to catch tropical fishes at Lamon Bay?

Mt. Apo is a national treasure. Having tagged as the highest peak in the Philippines, towering at 2,954 MASL, this mountain is not only a symbol for the people of Davao and Cotabato but of the whole country and its countrymen.
Recently there is a plan to construct a 16,620-step stairway to its summit and here is Schadow1 Expeditions' official stand on this move.

They say traveling is expensive, a waste of time and unprofitable. Why bother climbing mountains when after you go up strenuously, you would have to go down. Add to it the dangers of climbing where you can be exposed to various environmental hazards.

I say, some people do miss the whole point of what adventure brings to our lives. It is like asking a question, why live when everyone dies.
